Is there anything better than the start of summer?! I honestly love it, the long, warm summer days, lazing at the beach or by the river, the sounds of nature starting to spark from the trees and undergrowth. As the warmth of summer spreads its arms across Europe, us Brits seek to follow the warm rays and days on beaches that scatter across the coastlines, we flock in thousands to far flung places, travelling on average 2,743 miles to reach our destinations of choice, where we eat, drink and play away from the responsibilities of home. Discovering Cairns

I stumbled out of the airport, in that magical stage between hungover and still drunk from the night before, I landed in Cairns early morning, bleary eyed after my three hour hop from Melbourne to Cairns, most of it spent nicely sprawled out on my empty row. Despite the impending headache I was excited to be back in the Tropics; I longed to be lounging under palm trees, by the pool or whiling away my days exploring the capital city of Far North Queensland. Brief guide to finding work Down Under

Work is normally the last thing on your mind when you travel, but when you’re away for extended periods, it’s something that will eventually need to consider to carry on the adventure. Before I arrived in Australia I had barely any money left, I had to find a job pretty much as soon as I landed, fearful of running out of cash before I had even started, I took to the job hunt with urgency upon arrival in Melbourne, with full determination to find work as quickly as possible, luckily I discovered that finding work in Australia for a traveller is surprisingly easy. Sure, some jobs might be less than ideal, some ended up with me returning back to my bed sad and defeated, but they all paid, however little and let me have the best time so far over here. So, to help you out, here are a list of options for you to use when you get over here to look for a job, remember you’ll be fine, get your CV up to date and you’ll be rolling the dollars in before you know it.
